Archive quality DVD media that will
last for more than 75 years
Our recommended maximum duration time for one DVD is 105 minutes. In some cases we can push that duration to 120 minutes. Note that if your material requires more than one DVD, there will be an additional $7 charge for each additional DVD needed to fit all the material.
Don't try to stuff too much onto one DVD!
- Frame-by-Frame Telecine is the absolutely best method available to consumers for home movie transfers. Our Frame-by-Frame equipment not
only captures the maximum height and width of the original film frame (more than your old projector ever showed you), but
also gives you superior resolution, color and brightness quality. When you want the absolute best, Frame-by-Frame is the choice
of professionals.
Our Frame-by-Frame equipment faithfully captures each frame image to a digital computer file. Then, the computer
does a digital "pulldown" to convert the film frames to the USA television frame rate of 29.97 FPS. The result preserves the
original speed of the action on the screen (no rapid movement "Keystone Cops" effect) and is absolutely flicker free.
- Buyer
Beware! Real Time Transfer is what you get from most drugstore chains, "big-box" retailers and local photo shops.
Ask them if they do Frame-by-Frame. If they don't or if they look down at their toes and shuffle a bit and don't seem to
be sure what it is, then they probably are only doing real time transfers. Real time looks "pretty good", but suffers from speed
distortion (the Keystone Cops effect), may have some flicker, and generally does not offer restoration benefits such as
digital color and gamma correction, and suffers from other technical shortcomings.
- Yes, We Can Do Sound Movies! Super 8mm
and 16mm sound can be transferred. We still use our fantastic 6 FPS Frame-by-Frame Telecine to capture the images. Then
we do a separate run of the film through a sound head to capture the sound. Finally, the sound and the picture are joined in
the computer for excellent sound-picture synchronization. Our method eliminates any change in the pitch of the sound (pitch
change causes a "Donald Duck" upward shift in voices that you will get back from most other transfer services). The process is very
labor intensive, thus requiring a $0.20 per foot surcharge in addition to the standard footage charge for the silent film
restoration & transfer.
We use all-digital Frame-by-Frame transfer for an absolutely flicker-free result.
